Hi! I am Isabella Smith and I was born in Santa Rosa, California, before moving to McAllen, Texas at two years old. I am a student at The Science Academy of South Texas set to graduate in 2023. I’m a proud 3rd generation Mexican American and Italian American. Two years ago, I attended a leadership conference for High school students in the student council. At this conference, I had the chance to meet people from all over the world and see what they had done for their communities. After seeing these people, I was inspired and realized how much she could be doing for her community. I grew up in South Texas, only 10 mins away from the U.S.-Mexico border. I have seen the families torn apart and lives destroyed due to our government and knew that there needed to be change implemented. My family runs a non-profit organization called one family and most recently One family partnered with Catholic Charities RGV to help feed and clothed thousands of people immigrating from Mexico to start a new future. When I was 15 I received the opportunity to work for Carlitos and Stories Untold U.S. to be a part of their team. Carlitos brought me on because we shared the same passion to tell other people’s stories. As a member of Stories Untold U.S., I want to make connections and meet new people so one day I can tell everyone’s story. The stories hardest to hear are the ones worth telling.
